In recent speech to the city of Milan, St. Ambrose's Day (December 6, 2010) Cardinal Tettamanzi NEWS reported some phrases from a letter sent to the great saint Simpliciano, Archbishop of Milan from 397 to 401.
"Do you think maybe free those who buy votes with money , those seeking the applause of the people more than the opinion of the sages? It is thus free the one who is sensitive to popular favor, he who fears the boos of the crowd? ...
